Quality/Design Engineer

Role Summary

A vacancy now exists to join a small but highly successful innovative medical implant company which has operated in the field of minimally invasive surgery for more than 30 years, specialising in medical devices and orthopaedic implants.

This team-based role is responsible for oversight of the Design Engineering and Metallics Processing areas with a strong emphasis on Quality Engineering.

Role and Responsibilities

Some of the tasks that are expected to be a part of the role include:

  • Oversight of the Design Engineering area, working on bespoke equipment for medical product manufacture
  • Oversight of the metallic implants and instruments processing area, including metrology and post processing
  • Carrying out equipment qualification
  • Checking drawings to ensure a high level of product and equipment quality
  • Conducting quality investigations within the manufacturing environment, focusing on the root cause analysis of process incidents¬† as well as non-conforming materials and products
  • Coaching and training colleagues in areas of expertise

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Good degree in an engineering related subject
  • Excellent understanding of technical drawings
  • Metrology and inspection
  • Equipment Qualification and Process Validation
  • CAD
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Experience of a medical industry
  • Mechanism and machinery design
  • Engineering data management systems
  • Design control processes
  • Material assessment and selection
  • Mechatronics
  • Project management
  • Textile products
  • Continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing
  • Experience of Document Control and CAPA systems
