International Women In Engineering Day

Sunday 23rd June was International Women in Engineering Day, an international awareness campaign aimed at raising the profile of women in engineering and focusing attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. Xiros relies on the skill and knowledge of a talented team of engineers and scientists and we take our role as a STEM Ambassador very seriously, collaborating with local schools and colleges to encourage pupils to consider careers in STEM industries. Our STEM coordinator Sarah Aickin commented:

“Xiros is really pleased to support International Women In Engineering Day, encouraging women to be more involved in the future of engineering as they are still underrepresented in many STEM careers. As a STEM Ambassador I have been fortunate to attend many events in schools informing young people, and particularly girls, of the careers available to them in STEM which they may not previously been aware of. I am also trying to share how STEM subjects aren’t ‘hard’ subjects – they are fun, exciting, challenging and immensely rewarding – and really shouldn’t be left to the boys!”
