In July Xiros attended the Textiles Institute World Congress at the University of Leeds where we exhibited our innovative textiles technologies. Our team attending the event enjoyed the congress, taking advantage of the various presentations, lectures and posters, as well as taking the opportunity to present and discuss our work with colleagues from the textile industry. Xiros Textiles Manufacturing Team Leader, Mac Randhawa, had this to say about the event:
“The TIWC 2018 started with eager anticipation and closed leaving me, and I am sure other delegates, with a feeling of great optimism for the future of the textile industry.
I was delighted to attend the seminars, and the range and scope of the topics was something to be admired. Delegates from around the world presented their work with enthusiasm and were open to questions from the attendees.
Feedback from my colleagues regarding the event was very positive; of particular interest was the 3D Weaving Innovation Centre workshop, organised by University of Leeds School of Design. On display was a Mageba narrow shuttle loom. Xiros also work closely with Mageba International and recently took delivery of our own state of the art shuttle loom.
We all very much enjoyed the Gala dinner and the wonderful venue, and felt privileged when Dr Chris Agboh accepted the Textile Institute New Materials Award on behalf of Xiros.
I am looking forward to the next world conference.”
