David Farrar, Head of New Technologies at Xiros, has been presented with a medal for distinguished research in biomedical materials.
The Chapman Medal is awarded annually by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, for research with particular focus on biomaterials innovation which has produced benefits for patients or contributed to associated opportunities for industry.
David’s role at Xiros includes leadership of the Biomaterials Research and Development Team, which investigates wound care and tissue engineering; scouts new technologies which may be of benefit in healthcare; and investigates new materials, particularly fibres derived from natural substances, for use in implants.
The award ceremony for the Chapman Medal was held on 12th July 2016 at the Institute’s new headquarters on Euston Road, London. We heartily congratulate David for this recognition, which is well deserved after 30 years’ work in the industry.
