On 4th November we held a bonfire-themed Macmillan Coffee Morning and cake sale, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. For elevensies, various sweet treats including toffee-apples, home-baked buns and small cakes were available for a small donation, and at lunch time we served pork pies and mushy peas in the Xiros staff room; again for a donation to Macmillan.
While everybody tucked into their pies and peas, we held an auction of large cakes which had been baked especially for the day by some of our employees. Bidding became quite competitive on a number of the cakes, including an elaborate chocolate affair topped with Smarties and Kit Kats. The winning bidder was our Chairman, Bahaa, who bought the cake and then generously gave it to his staff.
By the end of the day we had raised a total of £347.13 for Macmillan Cancer Support. A great time was had by everyone involved, with one employee commenting, “This is the best day at work ever: pork pie and peas with cake!”
We’re already looking forward to the next Macmillan Coffee Morning.
